Recruitment
FYC’s Senior Choir singing at the Minack Theatre in August 2022
Operations Manager
Permanent role: 20 hours per week for 39 weeks per year (term time only). Remotely based, with attendance at rehearsals and concerts on a planned basis. Salary: £15k per annum.
Farnham Youth Choir (FYC) is an internationally award-winning choir that supports children to achieve extraordinary things through a shared love of singing. We’re a volunteer-led charity, based in Farnham, Surrey, with more than 100 children singing across three choirs, and we’re looking for an Operations Manager to support our work.
About the job
A crucial element of the role is to be the Choir’s Designated Safeguarding Lead, acting as the focal point for safeguarding across FYC’s choirs for both regular rehearsals and any concerts, tours or other performances. You will be supported by two volunteer deputies who have extensive safeguarding experience. The Operations Manager also manages our volunteer teams, and is responsible for general choir and event administration. In particular, you will:
Be responsible for the safety of all the members during rehearsals, concerts and tours.
Regularly liaise with local councils and other bodies to meet safeguarding requirements.
Manage volunteers, including organising DBS checks and chaperone training.
Manage bookings and administration for rehearsals, training days, events and tours.
Work with FYC’s Community Engagement Officer to promote FYC within the community.
Work with FYC’s Trustees to ensure smooth running of the charity.
About you
You will be a strong self-starter with proven safeguarding experience in settings with young people. Alongside excellent time management skills, you will also be a good communicator and relationship builder, able to work with diverse groups both internally and externally. You’ll be confident working in the Google suite, and understand the importance of data protection and privacy, including protecting data from cyber threats. This role is remote, but you will be expected to attend rehearsals, meetings and concerts or events in the Farnham and wider Surrey/Hampshire area.
How to apply
Please apply by sending your CV to jobs@fyc.org.uk, along with a covering letter stating why you are interested in this role. Interviews will be held in late October to start as soon as possible, and we reserve the right to interview earlier for particularly strong candidates. FYC will need to carry out an Enhanced DBS check before the successful candidate can take up the position.
This role is as an employee of Farnham Youth Choir. Closing date for applications is midday on Friday October 24th 2025.
