Farnham Youth Choir is a registered charity and is governed by a volunteer Management Committee
ANDREAS KLATT - FYC VICE-PRESIDENT
For more than 20 years Andreas has been closely associated with Farnham Youth Choir, both as a parent with three children in the choirs and in various support roles. Most notably, he has been able to secure and donate significant commissions from Sir Peter Maxwell Davies (twice), Augusta Read Thomas, Jonathan Dove and James MacMillan which have done much to further raise the choir’s profile.
GRAHAM NOAKES - FYC CHAIRMAN AND TRUSTEE
Graham has been FYC Chairman since 2008 and is a Trustee of the charity. Now retired, he spent 20 years as a writer/consultant with a Farnham-based PR consultancy following an earlier career in sales & marketing in the food and print industries. He is married to Alison, who was FYC secretary for 13 years: they have three boys who were members of FYC between 1988-2003, two of whom still sing regularly in the Alumni Choir. A keen concert-goer, Graham is also involved in a number of other local charitable organisations.
JOHN NICHOLLS - FYC TREASURER AND TRUSTEE
John is the FYC Treasurer and a Trustee of the charity. He is an independent management consultant specialising in coaching and supporting public sector organisations. With a life-long passion for choral singing, John was a member of the Philharmonia Chorus for over 20 years, an organisation for which he served as treasurer, company director and charity trustee. Married to Alison, also a keen amateur musician, their two children have between them been members of all five FYC choirs.
LAURA BROWN - SOCIAL MEDIA
Laura is a professional musician, educated at Wells Cathedral School, Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge and the University of Illinois, USA. She has a daughter in her 6th and final year with FYC, who also previously enjoyed two years in FJGC. Laura teaches voice and piano as well as conducting The Octavian Singers and occasionally directing and accompanying other performing groups such as WAOS and Song Circle. She has been tweeting and booking coaches (amongst a few other things) for the FYC management committee for the past 3 years!
HELEN COLE - COMPLIANCE AND REGULATION (CHILD SAFETY AND WELLBEING)
Helen’s daughter has been a member of Farnham Youth Choir since 2013 and Helen joined the Management Committee in 2015. Previously a solicitor, she is now an independent academic who lectures and publishes on British literary history. She likes to sing but performances are strictly limited to the family bathroom.
JASON HARRIS - MARKETING AND SPONSORSHIP
Jason is a current choir parent with his two daughters both involved in FYC choirs. Jason is the Chief Executive of Global Casualty at XL Catlin, a global Insurance and Reinsurance Company. He is responsible for all elements of his operation including strategy, sales and governance. Jason is keen to apply his professional experience to the benefit of FYC. Jason enjoys sailing when he has spare time.
ROS PIDDINGTON - FYC LIAISON
Rosalind is a very experienced educationalist and musician, having been Director of Music at schools in Hammersmith, Hounslow and Basingstoke. Along with her love of choral music, she has performed with several choirs and orchestras and has also helped transcribe original French choral 18th Century manuscripts into modern notation which can be performed today. Rosalind began helping FYC as a volunteer when her daughter joined the Training Choir in 1999 and has since, accompanied FYC on many tours including Singapore and Australia, China and the USA. She has developed the role of FYC Liaison making it more of a pastoral one in order to help choir members meet the challenges of choir commitments, together with their school studies and generally busy lives.
KEVIN SYLVESTER - MARKETING AND SPONSORSHIP
Kevin is a FYC Alumni parent with daughters Laura and Rochelle who perform with FYC Alumni Choir. Kevin has been FYC Sponsorship/Fund Raising Co-ordinator since joining FYC Management Committee (2009). When not making a “pitch” to potential sponsors and benefactors, Kevin is a busy Petroleum Geologist through his consultancy company Pinnacle Energy. Kevin’s wife, Jayne, a long time FYC volunteer parent since 2006, is a professional singer teaching voice at local schools. Jayne also offered vocal lessons for an auction prize at FYC Banquet and Auction fund raising evenings to support FYC International Concert Tours and the FYC Development Fund.
AMANDA WELSH - FYC ADMINISTRATOR
Apart from a brief interlude with a tenor-horn as a teenager ("far too much spit for my liking") Amanda is a non-musician with a background in science. She joined FYC in June 2010 and currently has a daughter in the Youth Choir. Outside of FYC, Amanda enjoys singing in a local community choir, walking, climbing and playing with spreadsheets.
